Margaret Hewitt, LEED AP, ENV SP, CEO & Founder:
Margaret established The Construction Green Team in 2016 and because of her strong reputation with building owners and developers in the business, government, and non-profit arenas the firm is a trusted consultant. With a singular focus on environmental sustainability, we work in tandem with architects, engineers, and contractors (A/E/C) teams on construction projects.
As the vice president of construction for University Hospitals in Cleveland, Margaret administered a $1.2 billion improvement plan that encompassed 5,000 people, 100 companies and 72 projects. Margaret is now pursuing her passion for environmental sustainability in the construction industry, assisting businesses with sustainable building projects and the LEED certification process. Her goal is to make a positive impact on the environments in which people live, work and play. Her career in real estate also includes leading the team that achieved LEED Silver certification for the Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio. She has a degree in architecture from the University of Illinois. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and an Envision Sustainability Professional.
Versatile and experienced, Margaret is credentialed in the City of Cleveland as Cleveland Area Small Business, Minority Business Enterprise, Female Business Enterprise, Local Producer Enterprise, and received the Certificate of Recognition – Office of the Mayor, 2011. Margaret is a gifted and requested presenter. Highlights include her work at the Cleveland Engineering Society as a Presenter 56th Annual Design & Construction Conference 2008 and a Presenter 62nd Annual Design & Construction Conference 2016.
Margaret is recognized by North East Ohio Regional Sewer district as a Sewer University graduate, a minority, female, and disadvantaged business enterprise.
Margaret holds key achievements in the Commercial Real Estate Women Cleveland Leadership Panel – 2008, ACE Mentor Program, Mentor 2008 – 2018, Crain’s Cleveland Business Women of Note Honoree – 2008 and the Turner School of Construction Management – 2012
Dena J. Eckman, LEED AP, Sustainability Project Manager:
Dena is a seasoned manager with excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills possessing the ability to coordinate teams, projects, goals and objectives. She has been a LEED Project Manager for commercial, government, schools, university and healthcare projects for both new construction and commercial interior projects. Her experience is both in the United States and Internationally, using LEED v2.2, v3 and now works with LEED v4. Additionally, she has experience with renewable energy technologies and sustainable design experience on commercial construction. She is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Arelis Latimer, Intern, Cleveland State University:
Arelis Latimer is a Civil Engineering student at Cleveland State University. She worked with the sustainability team for the INVEST certification of the George V. Voinovich Bridge (I-90) in Cleveland Ohio. She is an expert in the INVEST rating system as developed by the Federal Highway Administration. She has also worked with the Envision rating system. Arelis plans to continue and get her Master’s degree in engineering. Ms. Latimer is a LEED Green Associate.
